Samuel Draper is an artist based in Stockholm, Sweden. With a professional background in dance, they work mostly as a performer, but also as an editor, educator and mentor. Samuel is a member of the dance performance group TOGETHER ALONE and works closely with choreographer Frédéric Gies on several projects. They are a beginner tattoo artist, DJ, painter and writer; operating under a variety of ghost names.
WHY HAGFAG? I was dancing around my living room when the term ‘fag hag’ popped into my head. Except repeating it to myself, I said it backwards. HAGFAG. I was surprised that I’d never heard this before. (I know now that Urban Dictionary has its own definition. But I have mine.) And somehow it made sense of how I feel that I am: mysterious old lady and teen butch queen. Trying to understand my non-binariness, I’ve been experimenting with a lot of language that hasn’t yet settled. So this feels like a provisional blessing.
This blog is a way for me to publicly value more of the projects to which I give my time and attention. To recognise that there is always exchange and reward. And to share it.
